Southeastern Trailer Transport is a company that delivers
light duty stock, utility, and recreational trailers from manufacturing plants
to dealer networks throughout the 48 contiguous states and Canada. These trailers are usually transported in
combination of double gooseneck trailers linked together or a gooseneck and
bumper pulled combination or 3 to 4 bumper pull trailers carried on a “float”
trailer. Southeastern also transports
autos, boats, and other items as long as the gross vehicle weight of what is
transported is under 26,001 lb. All
of Southeasterns’ drivers are
independent contractors, own their own vehicles, and are responsible for their
upkeep. Southeasterns’ main office is
located right off U.S. Hwy. 75 at the Armstrong exit intersection (southeastern
corner) in Durant, Oklahoma. We also have a second terminal located in Elkhart, IN.
To have a lease agreement
with Southeastern a person must have:
1.
Be at least 25 years of age. (insurance requirements).
2.
Be willing to deliver in all States and Canada, in all seasons
(We never expect you to drive under HAZARDOUS road conditions).
3.
Verifiable experience in
either truck driving or hauling trailers.
4.
A valid driver's licens is required. Contact Southeastern for license requirements. A “clean” record is required.
(Waivers need to be signed for me to pull your driving record and do
past employment history.)
5.
Be able to pass a drug and
alcohol test. One will be given
initially, with random testing a company policy.
6.
A Social Security card, a
Department of Transportation medical card, a Motor Vehicle Record certificate.
7.
The ability to deposit $1000
with the company for potential damages.
$600 due upon initial contract (cash,
cashier’s check, or money order).
$500 goes to damages account, $100 to a non-refundable administrative
fee. The balance ($500) will be taken
out of each pay settlement at the rate of 10%.
Vehicle requirements are:
1. A late model, 3/4 ton or larger truck in good
mechanical condition and rigged for commercial
hauling. Trucks must
be equipped to be commercial tractor legal in all states. All trucks will be thoroughly
D.O.T. inspected.
2. All trucks must have 5th wheel couplers and rear
receiver hitches, electric brake controls, mud flaps, trailer
harness connector, a 45 foot trailer harness extension,
mounted fire extinguisher, (3) reflecting triangles and a
set of basic hand tools.
3. All trucks must carry at least the state minimum insurance,
insurance proof required.
4. Trucks should be registered for 26000 lbs. and tagged commercial (apportioned recommended).
Southeastern Trailer Transport will:
1.
Pay rates Based on
loaded mile.
2.
Provide commercial
liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.
Provide cargo insurance. Provide
Interstate
Commerce
Commission Authority.
3.
Provide truck
identification signs, a federal motor vehicle inspection, a modified ball hitch,
a hitch locking pin,
and
a safety rope for trailer brakes.
4.
Pay for a drug and
alcohol test certification for the primary driver of the vehicle.
